Quilts

My sisters have encouraged me to take pictures of all my quilts. But since my camera was unreliable I will have some catching
up to do. So I will start with the baby quilts I have stored in my closet. The Christmas quilt is one I gave to Wade a few years ago. Because my back has hurt the past few nights I have been sleeping in a recliner with this blanket. I can tell you it is warm. All of my quilts I have made so far have the same batting in them. It is warm like down but thinner and easy to wash.

Feel Good Gifts

This year I feel like the gifts I was given for Christmas could be classified as feel good gifts.
Stuart gave me a gift card to Bath and Boby Works. Natalie gave me a hot/cold pack. Wade gave me a camera so I could blog. The Lisa and Gordon Thatcher gave me a vase to help my home smell wonderful. All these gifts help me feel good.

The last feel good gift was from the Allred family in Washington.  They gave me a subscriptions to a quilt magazine.  So nice and thoughtful.

White Christmas 2011

We had another white Christmas. This is the third one in a row. Christmas was on a Sunday this year. We spent Christmas Eve eating dinner at Velda's house. This Christmas was a little more special because Grandma Mary was at Velda's too. We visited Sunday morning. By 2:00 we were hungry so we came home. Then we returned the phone call from the Allred family in Washington. Our next step was to nap and rest up for our company tomorrow; Stuart, Natalie, and Cheston.

2011 Christmas

We celebrated Christmas a day late, on Monday evening. These guys came early in the morning. Natalie worked at the store while Dad went to a funeral. Stuart did laundry, because that is what Stu does on one of his two days off. I was helping serve lunch at the same funeral Dad went to. When I came home that afternoon, Cheston jumped up cleaned out the dishwasher and tidied up the house a little. We had the best Christmas ever. Most gifts to the kids came from the store. We had fun with a white elephant gift game. Then we played a game called "Roll the Pigs" (I think that was the name of the game) We had fun.

A 42 Incher

We finally bought our first big screen TV. In fact, we bought two of them, one in the living room and one in our bedroom. We even have DVR now, which means we can record TV programs and watch them later. Our BIG TV we have owned for approximately 25 years is now in Natalie's old bedroom with a DVD player and VCR so company can watch TV in that room when they come. Since our old TV was still working this was a tough decision we have debated about for years. With the old TV upstairs we are content.

Staying Warm This Winter

We purchased two of these heaters during the month of November. These two heaters keep our home a comfortable 68 degrees. When we get home from work and in the morning hours we turn on our fireplace heaters. With our new plan our furnace which runs on propane no longer kicks on during the night or during the day while we are gone. So good-bye to those propane heating bills. Wade has not noticed an increase in our electric bill. So I should be a salewoman for these heaters. I talked Mom into buying two of them. Westpoint is the brand. I cannot vouch for any other brand.

Chewing Gum Diet

That's right, another diet. One that I have originated. Some of us have decided we need to lose weight. So I came up with this idea of gum chewing. I collected old cassette tape cases. Then with some assistance from Nat and Ches, we purchased approximately 10 different flavors of gum. When we got home we filled our cassette container with different flavors of gum. The plan is that with this handy travel case of gum with numerous flavors to choose from we will substitute gum chewing for eating. So we will see how this goes. We may even have a contest and report to each other weekly. You may see a slimmer side of our family members in the future.

Boys Like Barbi's Too

So...... Cheston saw this Barbi at a thrift store when he came for a visit during
Thanksgiving time. Being the good mother-in-law that I am, I wanted to give Cheston a gift he would want for Christmas. Wouldn't you know it, when I returned to the thrift store sure enough this Barbi had not sold. Boy I felt lucky. And Cheston felt so lucky when he opened this gift for Christmas. He serously was near tears he was so happy. He served his mission in Ghana, Africa and this was a Ghanaian Barbi. I think it just may be a family heirloom. Hopefully one day he will have a little girl to give it to.
